Solitary Dolphin at Manly

On Boxing Day boatie Jayden Nichols spotted and video recorded what is believed to be the same female bottlenose dolphin at Refuge Bay - located on the western side of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

Assuming it's the same one, the dolphin was originally spotted in September 2012 at Sussex Inlet, about 200km south of Sydney near Jervis Bay.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service co-ordinator of marine fauna programs Geoff Ross has urged people not to touch the dolphin

"When a person interacts with a wild animal ... the risks to people are quite high."
